background

In the eternal light of Vynushka, where only the incomprehensible and incorporeal could reside, Dante was raised as the very first Drakyn across the seven realms. This anomaly had been brought about as a direct result of an affair between Asur, the Accursed King of Ruin, and Isa, the Witch of the Black Age. While such an act between Dragon and Human was taboo, none dared to openly question the judgement of Asur. Not as long as he still drew breath.Despite the rather unusual circumstances that surrounded him and the war that was being had with the world of Sangre, Dante had a relatively untroubled upbringing. A great deal of this was due to his father's unforeseen decision to confine him to Vynushka, keeping him as far away from the raging conflict as possible. But not a soul contributed more to his well being and peace of mind than his uncle, Aros, who provided him with diligent care and guidance in the absence of parents. It was only through Aros that Dante was able to persevere through the sheer loneliness and self-loathing that came with his forced isolation and stark resemblance to the lowly humans they ruled over. Thus, leading him well on his way down the path to become a worthy successor of the Throne. However, at the tender age of eleven, Dante would be forced to meet the grim reality of his own world. Under the assumption that he was in for yet another valuable lesson, he was brought to the Edge of Elation, where naught but a pitch black abyss awaited those that foolishly chose to take that leap. Such a sight inspired both fear and wonder in the young Drakyn, but nothing was more fearsome to him in that moment than the dark look on his dear uncle's face. Bearing the burden of being the harbinger of tragedy, Aros wasted no time in breaking the heavy news of Asur's felling. Responsibility for this nigh impossible task lied upon the stout shoulders of a dwarven warsmith, known as the Bringer of War to most and simply Rhea to the rest. Though he wasn't particularly close to his father, considering they had never met before, this loss deeply unsettled Dante. Why that was would soon come to light, as Ava, the Everlasting Queen of Pandemonium, revealed herself and wasted no time in forcibly ripping his wings from his back. Using the chaos and turmoil within the realm to her advantage, Ava had taken it upon herself to dispose of the halfling bastard. Not only was this done to rid herself of an evident stain in their lineage, but it was to also to make way for the one true king... Aros. Unexpectedly, however, Aros would have none of it and defied Ava to the bitter end, pushing Dante beyond the Edge of Elation and sacrificing himself.Whether it was through fate or fortune, Dante managed to survive what is now known as the Great Fall, having crash landed amongst the mountainous terrain of Rondor. Upon coming to, he found himself in the company of dwarves, who had taken him in despite the risks that such an act would entail. Veterans of the century-long war that had just reached its conclusion, these dwarves were no strangers to dragons, especially those who descended from the Other that once ruled over their realm. Easily identified through the damning eyes that only Asur himself shared, it should have been obvious as to what would come of Dante. And yet, instead of granting him the mercy of eternal rest, he was forced to face the ruthlessness of life. For they had seen enough death and bloodshed to last a thousand lifetimes. If they were to ever hold any hopes of breaking this wretched cycle, then change would have to begin somewhere.Over the course of the next decade, Rondor was befell with siege after siege from the dwellers of the Darklands, who sought to rid the world of their greatest bane and gain the favor of the Other they so zealously served to a fault. Little did these foul beasts know, they were naught more than fuel to the fire that burned within Dante's soul. With the Rondorians aiding him in harnessing that unyielding rage and hammering into him the necessary knowledge for war, the Drakyn would awaken to be the living nightmare of the Darklands, which eventually led to him obtaining the epithet of the Fell King. In spite of this, Dante knew it wasn't enough to make as much of a difference as he would like to in Sangre. Not while the Other continued to persist, and he was confined to one place. Though everything would come to a head upon the dawn of a new day, where his mind had finally been made. With the weight of the world on his shoulders, there was no room for hesitation. Even if she was indirectly responsible for what he suffered up until that point, even if her heart was filled with hate for what he could not change, Dante thought of nothing else but his grand ambition— exacting vengeance upon the Other and uniting the seven realms under a single banner. In order to accomplish this, many things were needed, but a solid foundation held first priority. Thus, prompting Dante to do the unthinkable and request the company of Rhea for the journey ahead. Who better to aid him in such an endeavor than the last of the Six Indomitable Heroes? And so, with her approval in tow, Dante swore his return to the people of Rondor before his soul willed a dark rift in reality, guiding him and his newfound companion to stars unknown.

personality

In contrast to the naivety and gentleness he possessed in his formative years, Dante has become astute and austere, relentless in his pursuit for vengeance yet never forgetful of his greater calling. And despite his somewhat oppressive presence, he is compassionate and charismatic to his core, fearlessly protecting the weak and the defenseless and bringing out the very best out of those around him. Bear in mind that he is an entirely different beast when dealing with his enemies, embracing the darkness that lies within and revealing the faintest traces of his true nature.

passives

Unconquerable:With the blood of dragons running through his veins, Dante is fully capable of regenerating from any physical injury, including the loss of limbs, while resisting magick to a tremendous degree.Darksoul: His calling to venture into the great unknown, imparting him with the innate capacity to learn magick from any source and maintain his sanity through the most unimaginable of horrors.Vengeance: Drastically heightens the power and prowess of the party when in combat with the Other and those resembling or descending from dragons.Deadbane: Immunity to all forms of poison, acquired through his clash with the King of Monsters, Godzilla.

skills

While the past decade may have meant nothing to his world, it meant everything to Dante. For that was all that he needed to become the monster he is today, cutting down and crushing all who oppose him with overwhelming strength and speed, further weaponized by his sharp instincts and keen intellect. Just as deadly unarmed as he is armed, he moves like a maddened beast, unorthodox in every sense of the word, as he combines his wild swordsmanship with the darkest of arts from his past experiences.Oblivion: The Dark from which all originated, preceding even the Age of Stars, where darkness reigned supreme and life had yet to be. Embodying his true nature, Dante is able to manifest and manipulate this darkness freely, utilizing it for a variety of different applications. Primarily, it's used as his inventory system - being able to store whatever gold, items, gear, and even souls he gains along the way. Though arguably just as convenient, he can also travel within his own shadow, easily surpassing what he's capable of on foot. When used offensively, Oblivion crushes and devours all forms of matter and energy, barring an exceptional few. And if enough of either is consumed, unique skills are created to cater to Dante's will.Zaurak: Named after the first star of their journey, where naught remained but a tragic reminder of how fragile life can truly be, Zaurak permits the user to shift between stars through rifts in space and time. Depending on the state of the soul, these pathways will vary in appearance, usually leading to realms at random across the great unknown. That is unless they make the conscious decision to return to a star of their choosing.Endless Night: With every dragon felled by his vindictive hand, another soul is bound to the fate of the Forsaken, damning them to forever reside within his own shadow and erasing their existence from the annals of history. The Forsaken assume the form of revenants, fully retaining the power they garnered in life yet losing all sense of self and sentience. Upon being summoned, the sky turns black, and the field is flooded with an irrepressible dread and despair, letting it be known that this is only the beginning of an everlasting nightmare.Fuujin: Gained from a bout with the Wind Beast of the Jura-Tempest Federation, Dante can generate and manipulate wind at will, granting him the ability to take his reign to the skies and deliver swift judgement upon those who oppose him.Dark Horizon: Enshrouding his blade with the shades of Oblivion, Dante performs a horizontal slash in any given direction, unleashing a great wave of darkness that seeks to smash and swallow his prey whole.Bloody Roar: Harnessing the unyielding rage of many a soul, Dante raises Deadend over his head, performing a downward slash and releasing a massive blast of destructive red energy.Bloodbath: Impaling the ground with Deadend, the rage contained within its core is channeled below. splitting the earth before giving rise to an ominous red energy. This energy is then shaped into hundreds of spears, hurled towards a target with the intent of overwhelming them.

spells

Inherited from the Witch of the Black Age, Dante possesses a vast well of untapped vita, allowing him nigh limitless possibilities in regards to acquiring spells from his travels. Guidance was needed, however, as the dwarves of Rondor were never particularly fond of magick. After all, why would they be interested in something they were unable to use in the first place??????????

gear

Deadend: Symbolizing his efforts in the defense of Rondor, Dante was presented with this greatsword when he was only fifteen, providing him with even greater means to vanquish their enemies. Forged from the remains of the fallen, Deadend is able to consume the souls of those it has slain and strengthen itself, effecting both corporeal and incorporeal alike.

Unforgiven: Dark armor that arose from Dante's undying desire to wreak vengeance, bearing red scales that continuously glow with the souls of the damned. His already immense resistance to magick is raised to immunity, fortifying his physical defenses with every dragon he slays.Divina Comedia: Known as the greatest work of the famous poet, Dante Alighieri', its original manuscript was discovered in Arkham City, where our dark hero just so happened to acquaint himself with none other than the Necronomicon herself,Al Azif. With her guidance, Dante was able to master said grimoire, forever joining their souls together and paving the way for his future in the world of magick. In contrast to the characteristic darkness of its master, the Divina Comedia burns with the ever so blinding flames of Divine Justice, revealing pages inscribed with crimson characters which never cease to glow.
